The Problem

Why This Matters

India has over 35 million out-of-school children, according to UNESCO. In rural Uttar Pradesh alone, nearly 40% of students drop out before completing Class 8. Families earning less than ₹5,000 per month cannot afford notebooks, uniforms, shoes, or school fees. Children — especially girls — are pulled out of school to work in fields, tend to younger siblings, or contribute to household income through child labor.

The consequences are devastating: illiteracy perpetuates poverty across generations, children are vulnerable to exploitation, early marriage rates soar (27% of girls in UP are married before 18), and communities remain trapped in cycles of deprivation. Government schools in villages often lack basic infrastructure — no toilets (leading to girls dropping out at puberty), no electricity, broken furniture, and absent teachers. In Varanasi district, the pupil-to-teacher ratio in government primary schools is 42:1, far above the recommended 30:1.
Crisis that demands action

This is not a statistics problem — it's real people, real families, suffering every single day in our own communities.

Government Initiatives
The Government of India has launched several schemes — Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Mid-Day Meal Scheme, Right to Education Act (RTE), and PM-SHRI Schools — but implementation gaps remain vast. Many eligible families don't know about scholarships. School infrastructure funds are delayed or misused. Teachers are often assigned non-teaching duties like election and survey work. The National Education Policy 2020 promises transformation but ground-level changes are painfully slow in rural areas.

Government Efforts

What's Being Done — and What's Missing

While the government has launched several important schemes and policies, the gap between policy and implementation remains wide. Bureaucratic delays, low awareness, corruption, and poor infrastructure mean that benefits often don't reach the people who need them most.

This is where NGOs fill the gap

We bridge the gap between government schemes and the people who need them — through direct service delivery, awareness, and hand-holding support.

Your Donation's Impact

How Your Money Helps

With your donation, Anand Kanan directly addresses these gaps:

• **₹500** provides school supplies (notebooks, pens, bag) for one child for an entire year
• **₹2,000** covers one child's complete annual school fees, uniform, and shoes
• **₹5,000** funds a year-long scholarship including tuition, transport, and coaching
• **₹20,000** sets up a digital learning center with tablets and Wi-Fi in a village school

We run 15 remedial learning centers across rural Varanasi where trained volunteers provide after-school tutoring. Our mobile libraries bring 2,000+ books to 30+ villages monthly. We help families access government schemes like PM Vidyalaxmi, National Scholarship Portal, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao funds. Every donated rupee is tracked and reported — you receive photos and progress reports of the children you support.
Full transparency guaranteed

Every donation is tracked, reported, and accounted for. You'll receive photo updates and utilization reports.
